NEWSLETTER: Monthly Events Worship & Music Meeting 3rd Friday Birthday Fellowship last Sunday in month Saturday, May 17, 2008 More information to follow as we get closer to spring PLANT SWAP RULES Bring healthy, attractive plants-indoor or outdoor-that YOU would take home. Bulbs, corms and other tubers are accepted, please have these separated into individual bags with 3-5 in each bag; more if they are prolific, less if they are large or unusual. Please (even if they are tubers, NO potatoes). Plants MUST be rooted. Label your plants with as much information as you have for their new owners. Plants must be labeled before they will be accepted. (LABEL FORM FOLLOWS) Tickets will be given out as follows (plant size should be suitable for its container-small plants in small containers, larger plants in larger containers). 1 gallon: 2 tickets Under 1 gallon: 1 ticket Bulbs, corms, tubers: 1 ticker per bag You also may bring seed packets to the swap and you will receive one ticket for each packet. Each ticket can be exchanged for a packet of seeds brought by another gardener to the swap. Seed tickets cannot be used for plants, and vice versa. Each packet should have at least 10 seeds, unless they are extremely rare, in which case 5 seeds per packet. For plants that produce large quantities of seeds (e.g. sunflowers), please be more generous. Remember, plant swaps are perfect for disposing of no-longer-wanted shrubs, day lilies, etc. Divided bulbs are also excellent as are cuttings from ground covers (ivy, creeping vinca), volunteer trees that have sprung up in your yard, etc. Just remember, all contributions must be rooted in soil.

Your kids and grandkids can get into the act too. They can start annual seeds in yogurt, deli and cottage cheese containers. Just don’t forget to punch holes in the bottom for drainage. Seeds started in March and April will have a well-developed root system. Ask your family, friends and neighbors to participate too.
Planted cuttings will not be accepted.
